Philips 3000i air purifier - the quiet alternative to Levoit

The Philips 3000i has a CADR of 520 m³/h and covers rooms up to 104 m². Philips claim it can purify a 20 m² room in under 6 minutes. App control, auto mode, real-time air quality display, and a sleep mode that's actually quiet rather than just marketing quiet.

Filtration

Three-layer system: pre-filter, HEPA, and activated carbon. Philips say it captures particles down to 0.003 microns, which is smaller than the 0.3 micron standard for H13 HEPA. Whether you'd notice the difference in a real room is debatable, but on paper it outspecs most competitors at this price. Our HEPA filter air purifier article explains the different filtration grades if you're comparing across brands.

Sleep mode

The main reason to buy this over a Levoit. Sleep mode dims the display and drops the noise to near silence. If you're putting an air purifier in a bedroom, this matters more than CADR numbers. We compared bedroom models in our quiet air purifier for sleeping roundup.

One thing: the lights dim rather than switch off completely. If you sleep in total darkness, that will annoy you.

App and auto mode

Connects via the Philips Clean Home+ app. Real-time air quality readings, filter life status, remote control. Auto mode reads the sensor and adjusts fan speed on its own. It's responsive enough that it ramps up noticeably when someone starts cooking.

How it compares

More expensive than the Levoit range. The Levoit Core 400S covers a bigger room (166 m² vs 104 m²) for less money, though the Philips has a higher CADR. The Philips build quality feels more solid. It's also bigger and heavier, which may or may not matter depending on where you're putting it.

Against Dyson, it's cheaper and just does air purification without the fan gimmick. Our Dyson vs Levoit comparison covers the Levoit side of things.

For allergy sufferers, our best air purifier for allergies guide puts this alongside the Levoit and Winix options. Our best air purifier UK roundup has the wider picture if you're still deciding.
