COWAY Airmega 100 air purifier - the IndyBest winner with no app
The COWAY Airmega 100 won IndyBest's 'Best Overall Air Purifier' in 2025. CADR of 244 m³/h, 20 dB on sleep mode, and no WiFi or app required. Korean-made, ECARF recognised for allergy sufferers. It does one thing and does it without fuss.
No app, no WiFi
This is deliberately simple. No VeSync, no Alexa, no smartphone setup. You press a button, it cleans the air. The built-in particle sensor handles auto mode on its own, adjusting fan speed based on what it detects. A colour-coded LED ring tells you the air quality at a glance.
If you want app control and scheduling, look at the Levoit Core 300S. If you just want the thing to work without connecting to your router, this is refreshing.
20 dB sleep mode
Quieter than any Levoit model on sleep mode (they sit at 24 dB). 20 dB is genuinely hard to hear. The mood light is a soft glow rather than a bright LED, and all lights can be turned off completely. Our quiet air purifier for sleeping roundup tested this against several competitors and it's one of the quietest.
Good for nurseries and children's rooms. Our best air purifier for baby nursery guide has more on what to look for.
Ozone-free
No UV-C, no ioniser. Pure mechanical filtration only. Some cheaper purifiers use ionisers that produce trace ozone as a byproduct, which can irritate airways. The COWAY avoids this entirely. If that matters to you, our HEPA filter air purifier article explains the different filtration methods and why ozone-free matters.
Room coverage
25 m² refreshed in 15 minutes. That's a bedroom or small office. Not a living room, not open-plan. If you need more coverage, the Philips 3000i or Levoit Core 400S are better options. Our best air purifier for large rooms guide has the room size calculations.
Filter costs
12-month filter life, which is longer than the 6-8 months most Levoit models need. Fewer replacements per year means lower running costs. Our air purifier electricity cost guide covers the full running cost picture.
Who it's for
People who want a quiet, reliable bedroom purifier without messing about with apps. Allergy sufferers and parents with young kids in particular. The IndyBest award carries some weight.
For the full comparison across brands, our best air purifier for allergies guide puts this alongside Levoit, Philips, and Winix.
